Clara Voss is a British novelist and essayist whose work explores memory, place, and the distances inside families.
She grew up near the south coast, studied history in Edinburgh, and spent a decade working in independent bookshops before publishing her first novel.

Her debut, Small Hours, was shortlisted for the Alder Prize and adapted for BBC Radio 4. A Map of Returning followed in 2022 and was translated into eleven languages.
Clara’s essays have appeared in Port, Rook, and The Sunday Review. When she is not writing, she teaches occasional workshops on place, attention, and the architecture of a sentence.
